Although it is in the midst of downtown, the Prescott feels secluded and with only 164 rooms and seven stories, somewhat exclusive. This boutique hotel has become a destination unto itself for many guests, who are attracted to the attached Postrio restaurant and the nearby theaters and nightclubs. This unique location attracts a lot of entertainment executives and touring authors.

Along with complimentary car service to the financial and shopping districts and a reception in the lobby living room each evening, the hotel offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner room service from Postrio, as well as special consideration for reservations at the waiting-list-only restaurant through the concierge. The hotel provides a well-equipped fitness facility, high speed internet access in the guestrooms and lobby, and prides itself on being pet friendly.

The Prescott Hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the city's Financial District. Guests can visit Union Square, boutique shops and restaurants, or take a convenient cable car to other areas such as Chinatown or Fisherman's Wharf.
