Hotel Palomar

The Palomar has no lobby per se, but guests check in on the street level, then step into an elevator to ascend five floors to the hotel's 'living room', a casually chic lounge that serves as both a meeting area and additional bar seating. Here, or in the Fifth Floor restaurant, entertainment moguls traveling incognito rub shoulders with conventioneers seeking sanctuary, and with weekend shoppers.

The Palomar provides complimentary wireless high speed internet access, cordless telephones, in-room recycling bins, and iHome stereos with iPod docking stations in each guestroom, as well as complimentary town car service to the Financial district, and a wireless lounge area where guests can use the internet. When business is done, guests unwind at the adjacent bar, which claims to offer the largest selection of French wines in North America, and then adjourn to a table at The Fifth Floor Restaurant and Lounge.

Nearby entertainment options include the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Sony's Metreon Center, both one block south of the hotel. Yerba Buena hosts art exhibitions as well as theater and dance performances, while the Metreon is a multimedia entertainment complex with 15 movie theaters, including an IMAX theater.
